משפחות וחברים שלום!
לאחר שנה וחצי של הפסקה בשל הקורונה, אנחנו שמחים לבשר שאנחנו חוזרים לשותפות עם המרכז לישראל ע"ש רנדי וולדבאום-מלינסקי בג'י סי סי ברוזלין להבאת שינשינים (ש"ש - שנת שירות) מישראל לשבט!!!
השינשינים הם בוגרי תיכון מישראל אשר דוחים את השירות הצבאי שלהם בשנה ומגיעים לעשות שנת שירות בתפוצות, ובמקרה שלנו בלונג איילנד. השבט הוא שותף מלא בבחירת השינשינים, ואנחנו תמיד מקפידים שאלו יהיו בוגרי תנועות נוער בישראל!
הנסיון שלנו עם השינשינים בשנים עברו היה מדהים, הם מביאים לשבט ולחניכים שלנו את השפה העברית, את ישראל העכשווית ונסיון בהדרכה ופעילות לבני נוער ברמות הגבוהות ביותר!
כדי שנוכל להביא שינשינים וגם לשמור על איזון תקציבי, אחרי שנה כלכלית מאתגרת בשל הקורונה ומספר החניכים המוגבל, שבט גפן פותח לראשונה בקמפיין גיוס כספים שנתי כדי לממן את פעילות השינשינים בשבט! לשם כך הצבנו לעצמנו יעד לגיוס של $10,000!! נודה לכם על כל תרומה, גדולה כקטנה. אנא שתפו משפחה, חברים, חברות וארגונים אשר ילדינו והקשר שלהם לשפה, תרבות ומדינת ישראל חשובים להם ועזרו לנו לגייס את הסכום כולו! זיכרו פעילות שבט גפן ממומנת ע"י דמי חבר ותרומות בלבד, ללא כל תמיכה ממשלתית! השבט מנוהל ע"י הורים מתנדבים וע"י צוות שליחים מהארץ, וכמובן, חניכי הצופים!

Dear Shevet Gefen Families and Friends,
After a year and a half without them due to COVID-19, we are happy to report that we are partnering again with the Randi Waldbaum-Malinsky Center for Israel at the Sid Jacobson JCC to bring Shinshinim (S"S - Shnat Sherut - a year of service) from Israel to the Shevet!!!
The Shinshinim are high school graduates from Israel who postpone their military service for a year and come to do a year of service in the Diaspora, and in our case on Long Island. The Shevet is a major partner in the selection of the Shinshinim, and we always make sure that these are graduates of youth movements in Israel!
Our experience with the Shinshinim in past years has been amazing, they bring Hebrew, contemporary Israel, and experience in informal education and activities for kids at the highest levels!
So that we can bring Shinshin and also maintain a balanced budget, after a challenging economic year due to the corona and the limited number of chanichim (kids), Shevet Gefen is launching its first annual fundraising campaign to help fund the Shinshinim activities in the Shevet! To that end, we set ourselves a goal to raise US$10,000!!

Shevet Gefen Activity is funded by membership dues, donations, and grants only! The program is run by local parent volunteers, Jewish Agency emissaries (Shlichim) from Israel, and our kids!.
